Saregune -a local civil initiative whose main aim is to approach technology to society- could win the APC Chris Nicol FOOS prize, and is one of the two european nominees in this international contest.
The main aim for APC is:
"The APC Chris Nicol FOSS Prize recognises initiatives that are making it easy for people to start using free and open source software (FOSS). The prize is awarded to a person or group doing extraordinary work to make FOSS accessible to ordinary computer users. "
A Saregune project definition:
"In short, Saregune is a project which seeks to contribute to strengthening the initiatives of the various agents present in its local social context. It sets out to work in the neighbourhood according to a cross-cutting perspective, to promote and stimulate actions related to social intervention, the regeneration of activities and employment, citizen participation and the encouragement of reaching out to new local residents, whose profile differs from that of the area’s traditional inhabitants."
