Already announced last 15th August in a very short press note, Ryan-Air is leaving Vitoria-Gasteiz airport: Foronda -the 6th cargo airport of Spain-.
"To accommodate these new routes, Ryanair will cease operating services from Vitoria to London Stansted and Dublin from 25th October."
In a very strange movement the company argues that flights to London and Dubling from Vitoria were not enough to maintain the service operative. And all after a year when the airline recieved around 600,000 € from public money and signed a now broken contract for two years.
It is also a rumour that the airline wanted to place a new destination from Vitoria to a city of Germany, and that a recent change of local authorities sign after democratic elections could had been used as a mean to press local Goverment of Alava region.
Spanish low-cost ClickAir could fill in the gap left by Ryan-Air in Vitoria next Spring 2008.
